As Georgia CORE's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Patricia ("Dr. Patti") Shearer contributes her impressive expertise in clinical care, protocol development, and advocacy for patients throughout the state. Nearly as impressive is her supporting roles as a mezzo soprano with the New Orleans Opera in a past life. She currently is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Holding board certification in General Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr. Patti graduated from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed internship and residency in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Patti completed fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and has held academic appointments at the University of Maryland (Professor and Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology); University of Tennessee; University of Florida; Tulane University; and the Alix School of Medicine at Mayo Clinic. She earned several awards for excellence in teaching and administration in these centers.
